“Ossiri and the Bala Mengro”

Ossri is a traveller girl. She is very creative and loves music. She makes herself a magnificent musical instrument which she names a “Tattin Django”. Most people don’t like the music she makes with it but she has one special fan who LOVES listening to the music she makes.

This is how year 2 imagine her music sounds:

This book left us with lots of questions!

Does it matter if your audience doesn’t like your music?
How can you find an audience that will like your music?
Should we always expect to get rewarded for making music?

Here is a song from Tom McCarthy who is a traveller and makes the sort of music that I’m guessing Ossiri and her family like to listen to.

Thank you Katharine Quarmby and Richard O’Neill for sharing your wonderful book with us!

  2. Thanks so much to everyone in Year Two who got together to make such interesting music. I really enjoyed what you did and will send it to our publishers for a listen as well. Keep making music with the amazing Mrs Schneider!
